1,000 scholarships will be up for grabs to give students a chance at tertiary education.

This has been confirmed Multi-Ethnic Affairs Director Suchil Sudhakar who said that 6,000 scholarship application forms have been distributed and the Department has already received 2,000.

He said they hope to receive the rest of the forms this coming week.

Out of the 1,000 scholarships, 500 will be for the University of the South Pacific and 500 for the other tertiary institutions like FIT, University of Fiji and Sangam Institute of Technology in Labasa.

Sudhakar said the selection criteria for this year’s scholarship are for students to have high marks.

With external exams coming up, Sudharkar said students must strive for the highest marks so that they can secure a scholarship for themselves.
