A strong 10 member Fiji weightlifting team has been named for the Pacific Games and hopes are high the team will better their performance compared to the last games where Fiji won seven gold medals in weightlifting.
Manueli Tulo and Maria Liku who won three gold medals each in the 2011 Pacific Games will spearhead Fiji’s campaign with 24-year-old Apolonia Vaivai who settled for bronze in the women’s 75kg category at last year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Other weight-lifters include Seruwaia Malani, Ulina Sagone, Julia Timi, Eileen Cikamatana, Poama Qaqa, Tevita Tawai and Peni Taqua.
Coach Joe Vueti said they want to win as many medals as they can for Fiji.
The Pacific Games will be held from the 4th to the 18th of July.
