The new strain of Dengue 3 which has hit the country is more likely to be contracted by those between 10 to 40 years old.
Communicable diseases acting national adviser Dr Mike Kama said this has been revealed by data collected by the Ministry of Health.
Dr Kama said the new strain of Dengue 3 was last detected in Fiji about 20 years ago.
He shares the difference between the vulnerable group and those 40 years and above.
He said since November last year dengue infections continue to increase.
According to Dr Kama, 10 cases a day were treated initially with one admission which rose a week later to 20 cases with 5 admissions and two weeks ago 30 to 40 cases a day were treated with 7 to 8 admissions.
Dr Kama said none of the cases seen or admitted report to have had the more severe form of the illness which is Dengue hemorrhagic.
No deaths have also been reported.
Signs and symptoms of dengue fever most commonly include fever, headaches, muscle, bone and joint pain.
The Ministry is urging members of the public to also destroy mosquito breeding places.
