Police are investigating the death of a 1-week-old baby from Pacific Harbour who died after being breastfed by his 32-yr-old mother yesterday morning.
Assistant Police Spokesperson, Corporal Suliano Tevita confirms the baby boy was breastfed at 4am and the mother went off to sleep.
At around 6am the mother woke up and saw the baby in an unusual manner.
She rushed to hospital but the Doctors pronounced the baby dead on arrival. Police are now waiting for the post-mortem examination to be conducted.
Meanwhile, a 37-yr-old man has been admitted in critical condition at CWM hospital after he was hit by a car at Wailekutu midday yesterday.
Assistant Police Spokesperson, Corporal Suliano Tevita confirms the man who is believed to be a Saint Giles patient was walking along the road when he got bumped by a car which was heading towards Navua.
The man was rushed to the hospital and is still admitted in critical condition.
The driver of the car has been questioned and released.
