It will be a sad Christmas for a 27yr old Labasa man and a 55yr old Farmer who are currently in police custody after allegedly knifing incident following a dispute which broke out over breadfruits.
Police Regional Commander Northern, Superintendent Bola Tamanisau said that the alleged incident happened over the weekend in Nabekavu outside Labasa Town.
It is alleged that the two attacked the victim after the wife of one of the suspects went to ask for permission to pick breadfruits but was chased away.
Police reveal that the two men got angry and allegedly attacked the 42 year old man who received injuries during the attack.
Superintendent Tamanisau said this is not the time to take matters into one’s own hands, adding that doing so will only affect the festivities of the family.
The 42 year old man was treated at the Labasa Hospital and sent home while the two suspects have been remanded in custody while investigations continue.
