The Fiji Peacekeepers Association is grateful that the Government has decided to pay compensation to the soldiers who were injured or died while serving in the Middle East from 1978 to 1997.
Former Peacekeepers Secretary, Taniela Senikuta said the wait has now paid off.
The first soldier who died in Lebanon in 1978 was Eparama Turaga who was from Vanuavatu, Lau.
The compensation will be paid off next year and 2011.
